Anxiety Therapy

Meet Amelia

“Things falling apart is a kind of testing and also a kind of healing. We think the point is to pass the test or to overcome the problem, but the truth is that things don’t really get solved. They come together and they fall apart. Then they come together again and fall apart again. It’s just like that. The healing comes from letting there be room for all of this to happen: room for grief, for relief, for misery, for joy.”

- Pema Chodron, from When Things Fall Apart

Anxiety Therapy in Los Angeles

We can help your anxiety with tools and techniques that really work

Does this sound like you?

  • Feelings of dread in your body that don’t go away

  • Being scared to make decisions because you might make the wrong one

  • Preparing in minute detail how a future event will go and repetitive, worried thoughts making sure it goes perfectly

  • After social interactions, being flooded with thoughts about what friends or strangers thought of you

  • During social interactions, focusing on other people’s faces and body language and trying to predict what kind of person they will like and then trying to be that

  • Feeling frightened that something bad will happen

  • Focusing on one fear but not others in a way that doesn’t make sense to you

  • Wanting all your relationships and interactions to go smoothly

  • Being scared of conflict or rocking the boat

  • Feeling STUCK

Humans are pack animals. Humans relied on the group to be safe in an environment that was full of real danger. Our danger radar is highly developed and sometimes can be too strong and too sensitive so that it can be debilitating. A person can feel like they are trapped in fear.

We get YOU. You feel like your body doesn’t listen to what your mind is saying. You may try to calm yourself down by saying “it’s going to be OK.” But the body just doesn’t listen.

Our practice specializes in treating anxiety with mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy and EMDR. We can teach you practical tools to help you soothe your mind and your body.
